I know where you're coming from - feet less likely to have room to move - Ray Jardine swears by thin nylon - 1 pair. I used tight fitting boots with one thin pair for the SDWay - no blisters at all (no superglue then either)
thing is there's no room for the feet to expand - I struggled to get them on towards the end!

Yeah, this the dilemma for me. Most of my walking is done in boots, mostly in the mountains.
For this fast lightweight stuff, shoes are defo best. With shoes my thoughts have been wearing a pair big enough for two pairs of socks and then as the feet get bigger switch to a single pair.
I did this in a fashion on my crossing. Trouble was when the feet did get bigger so had the blisters and that's the time when you want more cushioning not less.
Thinking about giving the Lanolin another go instead of Compeed.
Dave.

Yeah, it's very difficult to test these things out... I seem to have extended my 'blister range' from around 60m to around 120m now with the aid of the superglue but it's not as easy to apply 'in the field' as on a good dry start from the van - eg. as on the recce.
The other big problem is down to having good clean socks - as I note on my video diary all my socks were reduced to mush by Shap.
I also wore the Sealskinz for too long on day3 - having nothing else decent to wear - which resulted in feet getting too warm and clammy
Lanolin would probably help feet to stay cleaner at least Dave..?
It's the not being able to get it off sufficiently well half way that concerns me, thus being unable then to use anything sticky like compeed, non-the-less I'd be very interested to hear how you get on with it,
cheers
mick

Mick,
You may have already picked up on this one. I found its a link from the Ray Jardine site.
I know a couple of guys who suffer easily from blisters even during single day walks, and they now use the Ducktape method as a preventative measure. They apply the tape beforehand and say thet it has worked for them, and have not had blisters since using it.
My thoughts are that it may be okay for single day walks, but on multi day walks, you would at least have to remove it overnight and re apply in the morning.
In the instruction on how to apply in the link, he says that you can remove and replace the same heel cup. I am not sure about that.
Something else to try!

Dave,
With reference to above article. Some years ago, after trying many major chemists the nearest thing I could find I could find to Tincture Of Benzine, in this country, was Frier`s Balsam.

Thanks for that Mike, I was thinking a small bottle of surgical spirit might do.
Dave.

My thinking is that what works on the heel will not necessarily work on the sole. I tried pre-cut Mefix pads but they just rolled up underfoot and needed attention around every 5m - the superglue helped to give a better adhesion last year though.
Must admit I've yet to try the duct tape.
But worth a try Dave!

I am going to try 'Cover Roll' tape. It is a breathable medical tape and is recommended by a few, lower down in the comments/review section of that same link. Ordered some yesterday.

That Mefix I tried was dressing affixing tape - maybe not sticky enough - be interested to hear how you get on Dave,
cheers

Arrived today in a combo pack, its a physio tape system for realigning the Patela. One softer breathable roll and a stronger holding roll. Just got to file down the heels first.
Dave.
