Train to Carnforth then change for Leeds. Book early for the best fares

Bus to Lancaster then train to Leeds.....not really recommended

Train to Carnforth change for Skipton. Bus to Leeds via Ilkley.

Walk?

You could go across Windermere on the ferry and walk to Hawkshead, there is a site just over the road.

Loc: West Lancs.
Ambleside is slightly better than Windermere, you could catch a bus or the Ferry from Bowness.
Better still is Grasmere a few more miles away.
Bus from Windermere or Ferry from Bowness to Ambleside followed by bus.
Dave.
