Hi guys,

We're looking to do the GGW next week. We will be walking it in reverse (Inverness -> Fort William).

First, is that an OK direction or is it boring? On the subject of boring, I've just read this thread & I'm now having second thoughts (we completed the WHW about a month ago).

Here is our planned route. We are aiming to wildcamp / camp at the free sites all the way - is this possible on this route & would you recommend any alterations?

Inverness - Drumnadrochit (18 Miles)
Drumnadrochit - Invermoriston (14.5 Miles)
Invermoriston - Invergarry (?)
Invergarry - Gairlochy (?)
Gairlochy - Fort William (10.5 Miles)

Everything Ive read about the GGW is that it is a bit of a disappointment after the WHW, although I haven't done it myself.
You may enjoy it, just don't try to compare the two.
Dave.

We did the GGW in May this year.A lot of the walk is through dense woodland on forest tracks. There are only fleeting glimpses of the great surrounding countryside,so on a personal note,i found the walk very tedious. It may appeal to you,it didn't to us.I'd do the C2C again,I'd probably do the WHW again,i wouldn't do the GGW again.
