Is anyone interested in sharing a cab from Robin Hoods to Manchester Airport in the late afternoon of September 18, 2011? The cost of a cab is 165.00 (total cost with room for up to four people). We have 2 people and are looking for 2 more to make it cost effective.

Also, thank you to everyone who answered my questions on train from Scarborough to Manchester.

Unless your on a very tight Schedule on that day would it not be a bit cheaper to get a Taxi to Whitby, then the connecting trains to manchester airport?

If memory serves me correctly you can go from Whitby to Darlington then a train goes from Darlington directly to Manchester airport.

We would like to be able to spend some time in RHB on Sunday. So far, the tickets from SCA to MIA are running at 52.50 per person, except for the 13:50 train which is 22.00. I believe it takes longer from Whitby than Scarborough. Taking a taxi would save a lot of travel time to the airport.

I very much doubt that taking a taxi would save much, if any, time if that is the problem. Bus to Scarborough and direct train to Manchester airport would probably be quicker if you factor in the A64 and the M62..... both can be tortuous on a Sunday evening as the crowds head home from a day at the seaside.

Good to know about taxi time. Thank you. When I looked online for bus tickets, it showed that the ticket had to be purchased on the bus. Might we have problems getting a bus? Also how far in advance of train time do we need to get to the station.

This is all new to us. We're from Wisconsin, USA. Really appreciate all the info.

My family, from Minnesota, did the C2C last year and loved it. I just wanted to wish you well and tell you to enjoy your time. The countryside is breathtaking and the people we met were wonderful. Be warned, however, once you do it, you'll want to do it again! Enjoy.

The services between Bay and both Whitby and Scarborough are regular services roughly every half hour during the summer. These are pay on entry services and do not take advance bookings. Just make sure that you ask for a single ticket (as opposed to a return).

If you choose to travel to York or Leeds from Whitby or Scarborough, these are both pay on entry again. Although less frequent (Scarborough to Leeds is hourly) you will have no trouble getting on as they run to less than full capacity.

Trains tend to leave on time from terminal stations so arriving 15 minutes in advance is ample time.

Thank you for the info and well wishes. Only a month until we head to England. Can't wait. Have a big blister on my toe and am having my Lowa's stretched out. Hope this helps as I really don't want to buy a new pair of hikers with less than a month to break them in!

I see you are finishing on 18th Sept. We are starting the walk on 2nd Sept and finishing on 16th Sept. I don't suppose our paths will cross unless you're taking even more days than us to do it, but good luck!

Well, I finally booked return train tickets. I booked from Scarborough to York, then York to Manchester Airport. The cost was 21.00 pounds. I tried every day since the first day tickets were available and the cost to book directly from Scarborough to Manchester Airport was 52.50.
