Hey, I'm planning my first C2C walk for next year and want to camp & carry the lot on my back.

In order to save food weight, does anyone know if it's possible to mail parcels of food to myself to collect on the way? Maybe any pubs that are happy to receive mail for a small fee etc...

No doubt I'll have loads more questions in the future but thanks in advance.

Depends on your schedule but it would be just as easy to purchase food on the way as you need it. You wouldn't need to carry much, just snacks and a couple of dehydrated food packs should be enough. To answer your question though, sorry I don't know if pre mailing is possible.
Dave.

Tom. Sherpa Van based in Richmond can carry your camping gear and food from stop to stop. Why not ask them?

Others have covered the straightforward alternatives for you.

If you are hell-bent on mailing foodstuffs across the country, Post Offices offer a service called "post restante" whereby you can pick up parcels left for you.

Unless you've got extraordinary dietary needs you'd do better buying as you go. Most guide books tell you where the shops are.

Thanks very much, I think buying en route is the way to go, was just concerned about lack of shops.

When I did the Pennine Way in 1995 I sent a few parcels on....clean undies and a bottle of champers for the end of the walk. We shared that with some great friends we met along the way, so it was well worth the cost and effort. I posted them to Youth Hostels with prior permission from the YH concerned. It was cheap though....even in those days.

Clean undies? ..... surely it only takes 3 weeks .... 1 pair should suffice.
