Came across a small group of Coast to Coasters yesterday bivouacking near Scarth Nick. They were on an exercise requiring them to complete the walk, carrying their own provisions, at an average of 3 MPH, ie 65 hours including stops. ...
That's the second night's location.
...and the first is 'beyond shap' and 70 miles equates to Smardale and beside water (for the dehydrated 'evening meal') Nothing to get excited about. Hardly
as stjames says:
'...vulnerable location(s that) would pose a security risk'
What kind of security risks are involved? - certainly not being discovered because they have the landowners permission...
We should remember that sgtjames wasn't part of the group that SC came across at Scarth Gap - he was doing a 100 hour solo at the time:
'I came upon this site as a favour to a person that I met whilst undertaking a solo unsupported 100 crossing'
It it any wonder the tracks are so well worn:
'I shall continue my 4 and 5 day and 100 hour crossings...'
...and does a 65 hr crossing every year:
'Since returning to civilian life I have personally achieved the 65 hour challenge solo every year.'
Surely the most prolific of Coasters...
