I was out walking in the Chilterns yesterday with my better half Heidi and she decided she'd like to try out my walking poles for the day. We were doing a 15 mile practice walk for our upcoming Pennine Way and are now starting to load up the pack weight a bit, so she wanted to see how the pack felt with the poles.
At the end of the day she declared they had worked beautifully I that need to order a new set of poles as she wont be giving mine back !!!

Just bought a replacement pair today!
In the past I've broken them, left them behind at a bus stop, and worn them out....but I've yet to lose them to a better half....which makes me wonder, Les, why you are still referring to "that thief" as your "better half".
Peace be upon you, both of you...

On my fairly recent Yorkshire 3 Peaks walk (yet again) I retrieved my two poles from behing that wall corner where I abandoned them last year during another trip. More in the interest of picking up litter than really wanting them back. I was disappointed that the winter months hadn't damaged them beyond repair. in fact they still look as good as when I left them there.
I am glad that Heidi got a liking for them though and if she feels she will be better off with them, then fair enough.
Better get yourself off to the shops Les.
Maybe one day I will change my mind about them, who knows.
Dave.

Isn't it a wife's perogative to let her husband buy the goods, test the goods and then decide that it should have been her's in the first place?

Heidi would certainly agree with Calluna's post, personally I'm with the fellas. But as SC says I will have the last laugh as I orderd a pair of Pacer poles yesterday (I've fancied them for a while and was looking for an excuse to ditch the Lekki's lol)

To misquote a well known monologue

You can tell by the look on the Mrs
That the poles won't be Les' for long

The new poles arrived this week, I havent had a chance to play with them yet. First impressions are that the special handles seem good but they are rather heavy (when in use Im hoping that's not going to be an issue as for 50% of the time they're effectively resting on the ground), I'm now wondering if I should have gone for the carbon versions.
