Went to the inaugeral general meeting of our new club last night. One of the guys who ran the Yorkshire 3 Peaks last Saturday also ran the Butteremere Sail Beck fell race on Sunday.
He described conditions as the worst he had ever run in, necesitating crawling at times on the tops in the gusting high wind.
Sadly a competitor lost his life after apparently going off route. Despite 4 mountain rescue teams searching the fells his body wasn't found until the following morning in the Scar Crags area below Crag Hill between Grasmoor and Sail.
Thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Its debatable if they should hold races in those conditions.
