another one of Bill Cowley's challenge walks was the
Sheperds Round. This was walk that for a challenge should take not more than 24 hours , but he says it makes a good 2day walk.
this walk was to take the preasure off the Lyke wake walk

Hi Slow Coach,
it is blast from the past at 86 I seem to be doing more talking about walking than actually walking.

Hi Ern. Good to hear from you again.

If you can manage a day out at Hutton-le-Hole, the folk museum has just opened a cafe inside. On the wall is an interesting display about the LWW giving details about its origins, history and memories of past crossings and crossers. Some good photos as well.

The museum has been updated and is worth a visit on its own, but, if you are as tight as I am, then just ask at the counter if you can go in for a cuppa. They generally let you do this.

Ern ......Are you aware of the "Breath of Fresh Air" walks taking place on the first Sunday and first Wednesday of each month on the Moors?

They are ranger led and fall into three categories .... up to a mile, two to 5 miles and about 5 miles. Each one has a focus and the ranger is usually an expert in his/her field. You can pick up a brochure at any Moors TIC or phone 01439 770657 to get one sent. There is usually a different morning and afternoon one from the same location so it can be extended in distance.

When I am 86 I just hope I can get out!!!!

Thanks Slowcoach,
most of the walks I do are ones that I just look at the map and join a few few red lines up, green on the later maps.
I think I am not keen to drive a long distance now to get to a walk, maybe this is just an excuses
to cover up a bit of idleness.
Thanks for the information though.

I ma sure, and hope, you will be still as fit or fitter than me when you get to 86.
people are living a lot longer now and as long as they keep active will enjoy life,
We always say wear away ,don't rust away.
