I'm heading up to the Lakes today early evening for a start time of around 10pm from Pooley Bridge. Trying to keep to a schedule of between 18 and 20 hours for the 48 mile, 18,000ft of ascent and descent.
However I will just try and see how long it takes and hope to be within the 24 hours allowed for my age group (over 65 years).
It is Fell Runners challenge but I wont be doing much running, mostly walking.
Dave.

A bit late but good luck, the weather looks as though it will be OK although perhaps a bit too hot tomorrow.

Have a good one, the summer has returned in time so hope it isnt too hot up there. Look forward to hearing about it. Does anyone know if the route for this run/walk is online anywhere ?

I think this is the main one Les.

Well I'm back home early, after the wheels fell off at Dunmail Raise, halfway. I managed 16 summits and 23 miles, mostly done during the long 8 hours of darkness, before calling it a day.
The wheels were never actually on to start with. Legs just felt unusually tired going up the road through the Pooley Bridge camp site after half a mile. My hopes that they would come to, never materialised and by the time I reached Red Screes each ascent and descent was really painfull as my upper front Quads were screaming.
I believe it is down to a lot of a certain type of commercial work I have done recently.
Anyway, such a nice morning when I decided not to carry on and ascend Steel Fell, that I slowly walked the lengh of Thirlmere and beyond, 13 miles in all back to my car in Keswick.
Dave.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the link, looks like an epic route. Would probably make a nice (but tough) multi day back pack for us mortals. Sorry to hear the legs played up on you but you still did a good chunk of a tough challenge (and no rain must have been a bonus !)

Yeah Les Ive done that section many times as far as Fairfield.
I usually walk it to watch the Fairfield Horseshoe Fell race, then walk back via St. Sunday Crag and the Ulswater path back to Pooley Bridge.
I carried my SPOT Tracker this is the link. If part of the map remains blank, just click on an area and move the map, to bring the detail.
Click on any balloon to see time at that location.
