I did this route in 1984 and it was quite an experience.High temperatures on the first day,almost 90 degrees and then heavy snowfall on the third day.Sherpa didn't do a baggage service in those days and I had to carry everything.My route started in Sargans and finshed in Montreux and went over 16 passes.From what I remember the height gained was 58,000ft and the distance covered was in the region of 200 miles.Great walk and one that I would thoroughly recommend.
