Dominated by its Norman Castle and lying at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Richmond makes an ideal center for the visitor; as the area is of great beauty and is steeped in history. Stately homes, abbeys and natural beauty spots can be visited nearby and both Durham and York cities are within easy reach. Richmond's a popular place for walkers, being on the Coast to Coast route. There are many walks around Richmond and in beautiful Swaledale and Wensleydale locality, fishing, golf (seven courses within half an hours drive), riding, swimming, corporate membership of Richmond Leisure & Sports Center are readily available. For those who prefer relaxation and solitude there are the vast open spaces of moorland and wide open spaces in the 600 square miles of the Dales and as much again in the North York Moors.

The hotel has eight double/twin/family and three single bedrooms. All have en-suite facilities, centrally heated, with colour TV, radio, hairdryer, direct dial telephone and tea and coffee making equipment and supplies.
Guests can relax in the residents lounge, an early seventeenth century tranquil room where original heavy oak beams are complimented by the beautifully carved woodwork of 'Mousey Thompson' a famous local craftsman of the last century.
The hotel is fully licensed and drinks can be enjoyed in the Bar Sun lounge or in the Patio, part of the secluded walled gardens.
