The Queen is a 17th century freehouse in the middle of the village and an ideal centre for a walking holiday. The sandy beach and coastal cliff top walks with bird sanctuary providing an alternative to the nearby Western Fells.
The picturesque village has a medieval church and 400 year old public school. There are excellent sporting facilities including golf course, tennis courts and squash. The hotel has a cosy country pub atmosphere with oak beams and log fires in the winter. There are two bars specialising in local real ales and over 100 malt whiskies.

There are no pub games or electric machines, convienial chat over a pint being the main form of entertainment.
There are two dining rooms, one being a non-smoking conservatory, and a secluded beer garden. All meals are home cooked on the premises.
