In answer to the question of the 'Fastest Crossing' I contacted Martin Stone of the FRA. He keeps a register of Long Distance Fell Records. Anyway the answer to the question is:-

Thanks for that,Dave.I had a feeling that the 35 hour mark that has been mentioned was a bit fanciful as Cudahy took 30 hours to reach the halfway point( High Birkhat) on the Pennine Way when he broke the record.Not mnay records stand for 16 years.

Nice one Slogger - MS didn't reply to my eMail some time back - maybe he was busy at the time... that's great news! Sounds like the 36hrs is a myth then? Would it be okay for me to re-post your info on the FRA site? cheers, lwm
