I have finally got round to doing this route from Oban to StAndrews. I saw it advertised in Brian Smailles 'Challenge Walks' list. I highly recommend that no-one bothers with it, it is awful. Not being disrespecrful on the Scottish scenery, as that is as you would expect, it is the route. Too much minor and a fair bit of major road side walking; where it suggests you use dismantled rail lines, section of this are unpassable, with either no bridges or badly overgrown, which means you have to go back to the road side! I did not quite get to the end as my friends feet fell apart, but I shall not be going all the way back up there to do the last 35 miles, it is just not worth it in my view.
