I want to do the Dales Way next year in 6ish days. Given that there is a great deal of knowledge amongst you, can someone tell me the best places to stop? I can carry a tent if necessary but would prefer not to.
Thanks in advance for your help.

We did this lovely walk earlier this year in 6 days. Here are our stops and thoughts:
>BURNSALL...B&B Glebe Barn excellant, Food Red lion too expensive& not that good.
>HUBBERHOLME...George Inn Fab food great for a one night stopover.
>COWGILL...This day may have been too long, some people were stopping at Ribblehead which i think we may consider if doing it again.
>SEDBERGH...short easy day so the extra bit from Ribblehead would have been fine. the B&B cannot be missed Bridge House at Brigflatts is excellent, we cannot recomend it highly enough.
>BOWSTON... would probably try a different stopover next time.
WINDERMERE... we went on up the road to avoid staying right in Bowness! B&B was Holly Lodge the owners are walkers so this place is ideal to end the walk, just a couple of minutes from the rail station too.

We decided to use a baggage service so walked to Paterdale the following day on the first stage of The Wianwright memorial walk, a fantastic end to a great week.
I hope this helps. Enjoy

Try B&B at Yockenthwaite Farm (Mrs Hird tel 01756 760835) Good breakfast that will set you up for the walk over Cam fell the following day! Only problem is you have to back track to either Cray or Hubberholme for pub meal
