can definitely confirm that the Buck Inn is one of the most expensive, over-rated places en-route.There appears to be a little local hostility towards the owner who has for reasons best known to himself let the place deteriorate.
When we stayed new managers were just coming to terms with what they were letting themselves in for, unfortunately this led to quite a bit of antagonism and arguing between themselves in public.
The restaurant which was in the hands of the 15th chef in 6 months and given that he didn't understand the concept of warm toast and softly poached eggs at breakfast appeared to be ridiculously over-priced �24 for two courses, luckily the Village Restaurant nearby served good food.
