Holme Farm,Horton. I was talking to a guy yesterday who had very negative experiences on this site.He was kept awake until 3pm by a bunch of drunks in a tent, which included the site owner,Mr Chris Sutcliffe. When he complained he was told to f*** off,as was a female teacher who was leading a group of DOE children.Another drunk threatened the teacher with violence. He ended up getting two hours sleep and had to abandon his Three Peaks walk. So if you want a good nights sleep avoid this site like the plague. [This message has been edited by tonyk (edited 01 July 2008).] IP: Logged |

And owner Mr Chris Sutcliffe is said to be related to the infamous Peter Sutcliffe !

I stopped there last year when doing the Pennine way, Turned out to be the most expensive, and worst stop of the whole walk. The filthy Shower block might of been acceptable to the owner not knowing any different, But i wished i had walked on and wild camped.

re campsites i wonder instead of slagging campsites off and getting too personal could we just award them stars same as hotels ie; a bad campsite would get no award and leave it at that ern [This message has been edited by tim smith (edited 17 July 2008).] IP: Logged |

And some foul-mouthed camper who lives in a pig-sty might then award Holme Farm five stars and we would all then be misled. [This message has been edited by Lounge Lizard (edited 18 July 2008).] IP: Logged |
